Col.Giuseppe De Magistris
Col. Giuseppe De Magistris was born in 1970.
In 1989 he graduated from the Military High School “Nunziatella” where he completed his high school classical curriculum, and then joined the Italian Military Academy of Modena. Subsequently, Col. De Magistris attended a two-year course at the Carabinieri Officers Academy in Rome from which he graduated with the rank of Second Lieutenant. Since then, Col. De Magistris earned a bachelor degree in “Law” and, in the following years, a degree in “Security Sciences”, a master degree in “Internal and External Security Sciences” and master degree in “Sciences of Security and Organization”.
During his 30 plus-year long career in the Carabinieri Corps (a 110.000 strong Police Force with military status and the twofold responsibility for State Defence and Public Order and Security management), he attended several specialized courses and was deployed on a large number of operational assignments both in Italy and overseas, where he served in Kosovo and in Bosnia Herzegovina [in the Multinational Specialized Units (MSU) within NATO Missions], then, for three years, in the NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers in Europe (SHAPE), Belgium, as Officer Commanding of the SHAPE HQ International MP Coy and, double-hatted, as Allied Command Operations (ACO) Deputy Provost Marshal.
Col. De Magistris also operated in Iraq e Afghanistan, within NATO Training Missions, and in Haiti, as inspecting officer from the Carabinieri General HQ to the Italian Formed Police Unit deployed within MINUSTAH. As of 2013, he holds the rank of Colonel. From September 2015 to September 2017, he served at the United Nations’ HQ, Police Division, in the capacity of Transnational Organized Crime Expert. In Italy, he held several operational commands throughout the Country and was also assigned to staff duties in the Carabinieri Corps General Headquarters.
As of October 18, 2019, Col. Giuseppe De Magistris is the Director of the NATO Stability Policing Centre of Excellence, Vicenza, Italy. Prior to this assignment, he served as the Carabinieri Provincial Headquarters’ Commanding Officer in Brindisi, Italy.
